When in doubt, check with Vegas.
Is your star running back hurt, or is your trainer just exercising a little gamesmanship and phoning him day-to-day? Is the point protector poised for a major game, or did he have a bit too much fun last night away from home? Vegas doesn’t always know, however, the handicappers can oftentimes be a good guide to the reality.
Those trusty betting lines can teach us things if we are paying attention. What can Vegas teach us about Alabama?
Well, if you’ve been paying attention to college football, you then know Alabama coach Nick Saban has played his starting quarterback position near the vest. At first he wouldn’t name a starter, and today he is dividing time between Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts. Why? It’s not out of the graciousness of heart.
Saban has two great quarterbacks, and he needs every advantage over his opponents. Why enable Ole Miss to prepare for just one quarterback this weekend when he could create the Land Sharks prepare two?
Is Tagovailoa and Hurts going to continue to divide time now that SEC drama has begun? Vegas believes it knows the answer, and the handicappers are all in on Tua. Before this week, the Heisman stocks created Tagovailoa the clear favorite for the award, decreasing his odds of winning it into 3-to-1.
He’s currently the odds-on favorite to win it, which is a fairly good indication that Ole Miss is about to get a large dose of the Tua Show on Saturday at Oxford. You understand who proceeds to fail at putting on a display? Joe.
Joe went 4-4 against the spread last week after beginning the season 1-7. He cried, in different words, but Joe will need to do a great deal better to catch the Pro. Check out last week!
